Angelo - I love the honest, and even poetry of your blog entries. But perhaps I can relate a story of LJ use that might make you understand a bit about why others have issues with you sharing things they don't think are appropriate on the web ( ... )

I've been a little behind on reading LJ recently and just stumbled across this post.

I hear you and I really, really understand. I went through much the same process. Left my journal unlocked (this is who I am) and faced both attack and judgement for being honest about myself. I then hid for years not saying much about my personal life.

Thing is I'm a happier person by being open about myself in this manner. I certainly think there are responsibilities to tell your own story, and not overshare the personal information of others, but congrats for reclaiming your voice and your safety.

oh, also!

One of the things I really like about LJ is that I can build custom lists, to lock down the more personal information. I have a "family" list and a "venting" list, so that I know people I trust are hearing the more intimate details. Though, bear in mind, these things still get out sometimes, and that's something you just gotta be okay with before posting.

But I still make unlocked posts. I just make sure those posts are truly about me and my life, and I try not to use real/full names. Things like "mom" and "S" and "friend" to replace details. The people you know, know who you're talking about anyway. And then your posts are not quite as prone to scrutiny in court-like situations. ;)
