Sounds like the onboard SATA controller could be failing. If you can, get an external USB-to-SATA adapter (or a drive dock) and run a disk check from another machine. If the drives are good, you're probably going to need a new motherboard.

I agree, either the controller is buggered or a particular port is, for sure.

Got new SATA cord and a USB-to-SATA adapter. It still doesn't see the Seagate, although the Seagate is certainly spinning.
