Keep going.

Keep walking.

Keep the children safe.

Fire burned in her abused lungs and aching muscles.  Fear prevented her from slowing down.  Necessity made her push the children further and further away from the gunfire, the screams, and the smoke.

She led them past the safety point and into the shelter of the trees.   The children huddled behind the ( Read more... )

Lovely take on the prompt! :) I love the parallels you've drawn here, powerful stuff indeed! :)

Cheers darling! And parallels had to be drawn I think, cause NC is such a deviation of the course she set sin Kobol, and yet they both ended in death. Had to be done. Thank you!

Very nice. The imagery of the rain in the trees is wonderful and her looking to the sky is heartbreaking.

I love this. You set the scene very effectively. It fits in canon but seems fresh.

I'm impressed with the original way in which you used the prompt and by your vivid evocation of this scene with its clear parallels to events on Kobol - the rain, the evasion of the Cylons, sheltering among the trees. Then there are the painful differences between those times on Kobol and New Caprica.

On Kobol Bill and Laura were together, reconciled, working towards the same goal once again, and in spite of her imminent demise Laura had hope for the future of their people. On New Caprica, forced to deviate from that shared goal and with their people pushed ever closer to extinction, even her good health cannot offer Laura the hope she felt on Kobol with Bill at her side.

Great job and good to see you drabbling again. Thank you

Thank you! And I did find it interesting that two similar planets with similar events happening could feel so different just for their reason to be there and the company they keep, of course. Also that Going to Kobol they knew it was going to cost them in blood but NC should have a heaven, so the dichotomy appealed to my perverse nature! :)

And thank you, it's very kind of your to say.

Very creative take! And I love the idea of her escorting all those kids during the exodus.
