First Impressions

Laura was surprised when the marine allowed her entry into the admiral’s quarters.  She would never have let anyone she didn’t know roam free in her personal space.

The polite thing to do would be to stare at the painting above the couch, but his bookshelves called to her.  It was a siren’s song she couldn’t ignore.

No worries about this working. It certainly is a nice moment, and i must say I have always wondered why she was in there alone. it seemed so intimate and yet they had just met. I like this

Very nice.

Oh and you get brownie points from me for the cut line. I believe it is one of my favorites from that book.

I know, I did think it was strange, especially since she gave herself the right to look at his books. She even put it back on the sly. Naughty Laura. :D

And sweet! I love that line, well, the whole scene really. Ok, the whole book. :D

Great twist on that scene! I've always wondered what must have been running through her mind in his "home" for those early times!

i knew she was after information the first time she stepped in his quarters waiting for him XD and she found... books! XD she might have found a friend in the most unlikely place left in the known universe. and so much more! (*-*)

I do believe his books, and his gift, were the first hint Laura had that her military leader might truly be someone she could successfully work with. The eclectic nature of his library shows her that there is clearly more to him than the stern façade he initially presented, and his choice of 'Dark Day' is proof not only of common ground but of a willingness in him to acknowledge, and perhaps build on, that common ground.

This is a very likeable depiction of that early encounter. Great work. Thank you

The books were the foundation, weren't they? To pretty much everything they were.

Thank you!
