How is it possible the universe ceases to exist? It was there moments ago! How could it be gone in a matter of minutes? Who are you to claim you know what has happened to such a vast world? Who are you to put it back together? Do you honestly hold such power? Can one lord hold so much power

[It's strange to Riku, trying to be supportive of somebody he barely knows. But he feels like she needs it right now, and for that reason, he'll try.]
Where I came from, it was the strength of your heart that kept you from disappearing along with your world. Not the whim of any one person.
And...
[Aara won't know how Riku hesitates here, how he stares at the page trying to decide if he should say or no--the written word, for better or for worse, doesn't reflect that.]
Yeah, it's possible that one person can save all the worlds.

Well... Sora's pretty goofy. He's always creating trouble for everybody else by not thinking things through. He's got a big heart, though. Kairi's...
Kairi's the sort of person that keeps people together. No matter what happens, she's always looking ahead, always smiling. She can see the good in anyone. Even if you can't see that good yourself.
[Aloud, Riku wonders--"What does my heart tell me?" That much is easy. But he doesn't want to share that hurt yet.]
...My heart tells me a lot of things, most of them contradicting.
But it's also telling me not to give up, either.

I know someone who sounds a lot like Sora! He constantly gets into trouble, but is always able to make me laugh.
Kairi sounds like a beautiful person. I would have liked to meet her. She sounds like another close friend of mine--Nessarin.
Contradicting? I hope your heart settles, then, so you are true to yourself and those around you--so your heart may be at ease and happy.
[Aara smiles softly at this.] It looks like we have similar hearts in that regard, then. I will believe in you, Riku, for you have helped me to be happy and hope again. [And she types that with complete belief and sincerity.]

Maybe you and Kairi will meet up sometime. She's here too, after all.
...Aara, thanks.

Thanks for what, Riku? I'm merely telling you what I feel in my heart.

It's nice that I don't have to worry about if she'll make it here or not. But this place has its darker side, too.
[One that Kairi's already seen.]

What do you mean, this place has its darker side?

Apparently they punish people here--I don't know yet what's grounds for punishment and what's not. But those punishments... they're not very pleasant.

Punish people?
With what kind of punishment?
Reply
Yeah.
I haven't been here long enough to see it myself, but Kairi has. Punishments are public, it seems. She said a man was whipped.

A man was whipped in public? [Truthfully, Aara doesn't know what to think about this.] Does anyone know what he was being punished for?

I've heard that people are punished for destroying parts of the keep, though.
Reply
Destroying the Keep? Why would someone destroy the walls that keep them safe?
Or is it for freedom? If it is for that, I can understand. If there is a world to go back to.

Sometimes it just kind of... happens.
