How is it possible the universe ceases to exist? It was there moments ago! How could it be gone in a matter of minutes? Who are you to claim you know what has happened to such a vast world? Who are you to put it back together? Do you honestly hold such power? Can one lord hold so much power

[It's strange to Riku, trying to be supportive of somebody he barely knows. But he feels like she needs it right now, and for that reason, he'll try.]
Where I came from, it was the strength of your heart that kept you from disappearing along with your world. Not the whim of any one person.
And...
[Aara won't know how Riku hesitates here, how he stares at the page trying to decide if he should say or no--the written word, for better or for worse, doesn't reflect that.]
Yeah, it's possible that one person can save all the worlds.

In my experience, though, people in charge don't care much about the circumstances, just about the end results.

I knew a man in charge. He was very good to his people.

But a lot of the time, those people are the exceptions to the rule.

We both were.
Riku? What is expected of us here? What do you normally do when you wait for this friend of yours?
Reply
I don't know what they're expecting of us here. All I know is that you're supposed to write in the record. If you don't, they... [What was it Kairi said?] spill ink on you.
I don't plan on just sitting around waiting for Sora, though. I'm going to find out whatever I can about this place in the meantime.

Find out--can I help?

If you want. Just keep an eye out for anything unusual you see around the keep, all right?
Reply
Unusual! Okay.
[Though MANY things are unusual to her...]

You're Kairi? It's so nice to meet you!
...You really like it? [That means even more to her, seeing as how Aara named herself.]

... So, who is Lord Kanan? Is he a friend?
[Nosy? No, never!]

How long have you and Riku known each other?
[There is a bit of excitement in Aara's breathy tone as she awaits Kairi's response. Kairi's question has Aara startled however, and her entire form turns a rosy hue at the mention of Lord Kanan, and Kairi's interest.]
Lord Kanan. [It is said softly. Almost reverently.] He is... the leader of my clan. Of the village I come from. [She speaks hesitantly now, trying to remember words human kind would better understand without giving away her heritage.] He saved my life when I was a girl--just when he had become leader of the clan at the age of thirteen.
Yes. He is my friend. [Her voice sounded so happy and serene to be able to admit it aloud. Her heart felt so full.]

So, what does Lord Kanan look like?
[Maybe if he's here, she can help find him.]

Lord Kanan... [Her voice sounds sad while saying his name, thoughts drifting back to all she had done--how she simply left. Eventually her feelings outweigh her dark thoughts, however, and when she speaks again there is adoration and a smile in her voice.]
He is dark. All his clan is dark. His hair curls slightly around his ears. He wears a gold ear bob in one lobe. His eyes are dark, yet vibrant. His lips thin, and they rarely smile. He seems cold upon first glance. Maybe even upon meeting him the first few times. He's really very caring, though. I think he just doesn't want people to see that side of him, and think he's weak. He refuses to show weakness. Even to me.
He's tall, with broad shoulders. He looks more frail than he really is. He carries himself well, always. He was born to lead his people, and he does it well.

[No seriously, that was a far more detailed description than she was thinking of.]
I'll look out for him.
My islands were warm, much warmer than here. They were beautiful. No matter where you went, you could always hear the ocean.
