Picnic Weekend and the Literal Word

The end of summer here Up North is marked by a frenzy of picnics, barbecues and cookouts. I am not sure that people in the Sun Belt can really understand it unless they spent time (growing up, college, etc.) in a place with harsh winters. She said afterward, "Remember, you prayed that God would do something about your pride during our first meeting in August--that He would humble you--and look what happened this month! Look at what you shared with us!" And I stopped laughing, and went, wow, God--that was not funny!.

His sense of humour seems to be rather unique.

I know what you mean about the frenzy, although here in Britain it begins with the first rays of sunshine because we never know if they might also be the last! It's been grey and horrible here for the whole of August pretty much, after a sizzling July. Typical.

Well I've got a theory: You will marry when you find the person who is good enough for you, who you can both love and respect and who will not only accept you exactly as you are but who will love you exactly as you are. Not before. If you do, I shall have to have words, because you must never, ever settle. Far better to marry at 50 and be blissful for perhaps 25 years than marry now and be mediocre for 50 ( ... )
