The X is kind of a provisional gender for transgender people who are in the middle of transitioning. In NZ it's hard to change the gender marker on a birth cert, passport or license (years long process, have to have had surgeries etc). It's a helpful thing to have in a country where that process is so long. I don't think very many countries have it though.
The hair on your head - I bet that's helping you get read as male a lot more. I think it's really tough for guys in their first year or so of transition to wear a shaved head and get read as male. I'm also a sucker for a cute head of short hair like you've got right now - you look super hot. Keep it!!
Yeah I'm really liking having hair about this length. For a while I had a shaved head because of stress/less maintainence/free and could do it myself. But, vanity won out again, so here I am with hair :D

I didn't know about the 'X' on the passport. Do most places do that? What about for someone who has completed transition?
