School year!

Not gonna lie: There's something oddly invigorating about Avril Lavigne's music. It might not be as punk as she'd like to think, but I mean - she's got a point (in her lyrics). Harold showed me the music video for When You're Gone, and it's actually kind of sweet ( Read more... )

I guess it just didn't seem real enough for me to collapse. If it were really true, I think I would be crushed. Not just because I am really attached to what I have now - but there just isn't any other choice!
I'm really curious about what you mean by "there just isn't any other choice." If it isn't too nosy of me, can you explain that to me more? I mean, for one thing I don't know the details of exactly what you're talking about, although I can pretty much figure it out in a general way. But it's that part about not having a choice that I don't get - would it not be okay if you were by yourself? I guess I would just like to know what you mean.

Anyway, I'm really glad you're back on LiveJournal and that I can hear about how life is at Harvard so far? I hope you're busy in the nicest of ways, happy but not overwhelmed. :) Take care!

I don't like Avril's new album that much. Her video for "Girlfriend" were insulting to me.

haha, I watched it on youtube... I think Avril/her producers have this concept of an urban Utopia, a perfect world where punker teens/twenties can just romp around and have fun and nothing really matters. In that world, perhaps the actions portrayed in the music video would be acceptable. But the fact is, in the real world there's no excuse for being mean-spirited and anyway, no self-respecting/worthwhile guy would fall for Avril.

What I did find interesting was that the original girlfriend is Avril in a red wig... perhaps a commentary on self loathing??? I wish it were that deep. ;)

What also grossed me out in that video was when she was dancing with a group of girls...wearing hot pants.
I think if her 17-year old self got a glimpse of what she is now, I think she'd blow chuncks.

Thank you for making my life even more multi-lingual.

Also, I'm glad everything worked out with whatever was working out.
