E ku odun tuntun! Happy New Year! I thought I should throw it out there that I am in fact still alive, a little battle-scarred, but still alive

as for grants, it is kind of tricky because Harvard has a policy saying that they won't give money for undergraduates to study in countries that have a travel warning from the state department. go figure, nigeria is on that list and will probably be on that list for quite some time yet. however, since I would be going with a grad student from brown, there may be some loopholes we can jump through somewhere. I am optimistic.
I wish I was at Harvard and could give you a housewarming party! Congratulations on surviving your awful roommate experience and getting what you wanted and needed - a new and improved living situation.
Good luck working things out with Naija! I feel your pain, a little: I thought I might be able to do an internship in London this summer (as I may or may not have mentioned when I saw you over break; sorry I can't remember), but I ran into money troubles too. Now it's looking more likely that I'll be staying inside the country for this summer, but at least I'm probably looking at Japan for the next academic year; for you, this summer is a bigger deal, for sure. I REALLY hope you get to go, Kay! :)
I wish I could have a housewarming party too... the people who lived here before me left behind (among other things) an almost full bottle of Malibu rum, which is just asking for a party... ;)
you didn't tell me about your internship possibilities - sorry it won't work out. but no worries because Japan - for a whole year!! - will be nothing short of FABULOUS!! I'm so excited for you!
I think somehow something will work out for 9ja... I have a couple of fallback options if this first choice doesn't go through. but I'd really love to go with Tani as her research assistant because she'll be in the north, which is where all the people I know are. I will just have to work hard and pray hard for things to fall into place! thanks for the encouragement :)

You should see if Harvard has any sorts of grants available to students that you could use for Naija.
I miss you.
