[The PDA clicks on when Alex rolls over onto it. For a while there's just darkness and a scraping noise as the virus gets up. Slowly. Unsteadily. The PDA is peeking over the side of his breast pocket, his lower torso and legs visible as he sits up. You can see the flap of his pocket occasionally getting in the way of the lens as he moves to look ( Read more... )

The craters a new thing or something that always happens with your acrobatics? [Because, you know, that sort of thing might bring attention from over the bridge. Unwanted attention.]

I guess I put on some weight.

The building crumbling behind you wasn't your fault as much, everything here is old and decaying.

[Let's go with that. Not that he weighs a quarter of a ton, because that would be ridiculous wouldn't it?]

Must be dangerous. Who're you?

This whole place is dangerous. [In the sense of it could come crumbling down on top of you without warning.]

Lavi, Bookman apprentice and temporary Exorcist of the Black Order.

Figures. I can deal with unsteady buildings. [Which means he's going to stay the fuck out of any living quarters that look too run down.]

...Black Order...?!

[Wait! Shit! Not good. Very not good. Does that have anything to do with Blackwatch? If it does, Alex notes to stay out of sight. Still, this guy, Lavi, seems like he's just a kid. There's no way he's part of some crazy black ops group. It has to be something else.]

The apartment building is stable enough, so long as you don't mind drafts.

It's probably not whatever you're thinking. [He can hear that surprise and slight panic.] It's an organization of the church in 1895. There are a lot of us here.

[Lavi would have no clue what Blackwatch would be, let alone get tangled up with them. He's fine with sticking outside and recording.]

I'm not staying long. I have to get back.

[The explanation allays some of his earlier paranoia but it isn't completely gone. It seems like a pretty harsh name for some church group, but Alex doesn't press too hard about it. What does a virus know about religion?]

Is Libitina the religious sort then?

You're pretty much stuck here, you know.

[Not really when you consider what they do with the organization behind closed doors within it.

A snort.] Hardly. She just likes my home.

Hmph.

[He's going to ask what he's asked everyone else thus far-]

What's stopping me?

...Wait... [She likes his home? The virus doesn't take that to mean Lavi's world.] The brat is with you then?

The fact that there's no way home. At all. You leave randomly and can come back just as randomly.

No. I'm from England in 1895, the year here is 2000 and we're in Russia.

[Now he's angry. ...Well. Angrier.]

That's a fucking lie.

[He'll believe he's in Russia.]

It's 2009. If you were from 1895 you'd be dead or old or-

[...Or he'd be like Greene. There's that paranoid way his eyes flicker to the side and his hand twitches. But that can't be right either. Alex grips his head, sorting through the jumbled cacophony of noise inside him, trying desperately to dig up some kind of explanation for this. Something rational, but he comes up blank.]

...It's not a lie. Libitina doesn't care what year it is in your home, the papers over in Credinta are current and are 2000. She grabbed me and the others from my home from 1895 and pushed us here.

That... can't be right.

[It's like he's struggling with getting words out as he wrestles with his own jumbled psyche.

The PDA clicks off, and Alex goes to Credinta to investigate.

It's easy for the virus who isn't limited to staying on the ground or even in one shape. He could be anyone, is anyone, and the first thing he does is pick up the nearest newspaper from a stand.]

[The feed comes back on after a while. Alex is clearly in Credinta judging by the buildings and the occasional crowd passing. He looks... very different. Like a middle-aged business man in a suit. Either a change of clothes does wonders for that undead look he was sporting earlier or...]

Alright. There has to be an explanation for this.

[When the PDA goes off Lavi shrugs and goes back about his business of writing pamphlets for occassions just like this: the greeting and explanation as to why they're here, where and when it was, and why they couldn't get home.

He almost doesn't catch the PDA turning back on when Alex finds the redhead's frequency, almost doesn't recognize him. But then he supposes it might be something normal in the other's world, the ability to change how others perceive him or at least disguise himself very well.]

Libitina is a bitch of a ghost girl and this is her home. Only explanation I have.
