I did not realise this... but
apparently the passing of Prop 8 does not invalidate the existing gay marriages in California. The 18,000 same-sex couples who married between June 16, 2008 and the possible passage of Proposition 8 are still valid in the state of California and must continue to be honoured by the state. It was very close. At this point the opponents have not yet conceeded, as there perhaps 3 million ballots still to count. So there remains a small window of hope.
