When I first visited here as an adult, visiting G's parents for the first time, I knew this was where I wanted to live after college. Even if G and I didn't end up together.
I love this post. I think a lot about place, too -- how can where you live not be important? Where we end up can be so seemingly random, but it's so central to who we become.
Me, I love where I live -- it's like a comfortable marriage -- and at the same time I'm crazy in love with Provincetown, and think about it all the time. It's a funny dynamic, especially since I'll never be able to afford to live in Provincetown, so it kind of doesn't matter whether I'd love it just as much if I could be there full-time. It's like I have the comfortable marriage and the exciting mistress, both.
