Constants aren't so constant anymore

I think maybe we have one point in our life that we see as our shining moment. A part where we felt most defined and comfortable. Everything before was just an attempt to achieve that, and everything after is an attempt to either hold on to it or come to grips with the fact it's gone. The sad part is, we don't realize the moment until it's past.

I used to think that, too, until I had enough time behind me to look back and see the lazy sine wave the ups and downs have formed. We modulate our way through. I'll be forty in January and for the first time, I'm really excited about what that means and how much potential there is to have more shining moments. Life isn't over, it has scarcely begun. Perspective is everything.

That goes give me a bit of hope, however you're clearly at a place in your life that I fear I'll never be.

I don't know how old you are, but I have had some pretty black times, including incapacitating depression and cancer. It does take a bit of stubborness to insist that you want your life to be better. The best thing I ever did for myself was find a good psychologist. I never took meds (I still have to be bullied into taking aspirin) but talking to someone who was able to help me see myself clearly was the best choice I have ever made. It wasn't easy, either. Some stuff is just downright unpleasant to face, especially when it comes to shedding light on our own choices and behaviors, but it did help me to cope with everything in a much healthier way. All good things flowed through that clearer prism.

I am wishing you strength, courage, patience and love. Doesn't really matter if I don't know you. They are things absolutely everyone needs.

It's probably no comfort, but you're probably currently living in your shining moment, so try to enjoy it rather than attempt to drink it away.
