Hellboy II: The Golden Elf...I mean Army...

Aug 26, 2008 20:21

Took the family to see Hellboy II today - it was awesome. Now I would never have watched the first film if my brother hadn't had it on DVD, and one bored evening watched it...was hooked. Last week my brother and I sat the parents down and they watched it too, thus making it easier to persuade them to see the sequal! Sneaky sneaky.

It was a great ( Read more... )

oooh I love the cheesey pop of ABBA, not that I have listened to their stuff for a while thinking about it however! :D

Hope you enjoy the film!

Ah am glad you loved Hellboy 2. Indeed it was awesome and hey who couldn’t love the prince? Not to mention the college-like sense where Red and Blue were…you know. I swear I had so many flashbacks seeing them in such a state. Hellboy2 was worth seeing here opening day and in all honesty with the lack of good movies out now I just may go see it again at one of our $2 theaters.

And did you suffer through Mamma Mia? I still have not brought myself to pay to see it. Though I have been considering purchasing the cd. Hmm I suppose I shall have to look at previous posts to see if you did post about Mamma Mia.

I knew you'd like the prince! Also, yes that 'drunken' scene with red and blue had me in stiches!!

As for Mamma Mia, am no way going to see it - and caught some of the soundtrack played in a shop and wasn't keen. Are you going to brave it?

LOL

And bah…..well I didn’t catch any of the music anywhere. I was thinking about buying it cause…well you know how it is…we’re musical whores. However when the musical fiend has decided to steer clear of a certain musical…I really do wonder….

Oh though I do have a question about musicals. I am sure you have heard of the Little Mermaid…how is the music in that? Or the LOTR one?

Almost forgot to say...

Almost forgot to say...

Yes I really adored him. I really like the fact that they used a lot of the....well there was a lot of mythology that was rather accurate. Not so much the golden army myth, but how the creatures were. How they acted and all. I swear someone did their homework on fae and the like.

I really did feel for the prince and his cause and was extremely saddened by the outcome.

Now I loved Mamma Mia and found it a welcome vacation from the monotany that has been endless films with a hero's journey plot.

Yes, the singing was horrid. That was the point. It made me want to sing along with them when I can't carry a tune in a bucket. I don't think that butchers ABBA; I see it as the highest sign of affection that one can give: that when the music starts, you want to join in with the music you love that has been a part of your life.

See I dont really like sing-a-longs at all. And I love a good voice so when I hear bad singing...I can't hack it! I don't even watch X-Factor etc here on TV, lol.

Many of my friends offline do like it, not sure they are musical geeks the ones I know have seen it. The amusing thing is that I hear the blokes from ABBA are not that keen on the stageshow themselves, maybe their opinions have changed since the film?

I shall stick to my ABBA the old way but not saying others wouldnt like it.
