Happy Monday

This is a year of zero-savings that comes with loads of fun. I'm actually happier with less responsibilities at work. Worrying thoughts do spring into my mind sporadically about the savings issue but I'm learning to relax and trust in God to take a sabbatical year off ( Read more... )

there wasnt much of a queue when we went to the lourve a few years back. There was only a big crowd in front of Mona Lisa.

Lucky you. There were long queues at the Vatican and Colosseum when you visited in summer, no?

There is a long queue when it is a free day at the Lourve. Otherwise the queue eases pretty easily after the security check. I'm not sure if you can get tickets online, definitely saves time from queuing to get tickets. You should consider Musee d'Orsay, Musee Cluny and Musee Carnavalet too. So many things to do in Paris!

Can't help with Swiss pass but it helps if you know where exactly you are going, which route you are taking and then do your math from there. Not much of a help eh? :P

Museum d'Orsay was on my list but I nope to see the paintings at The Louvre and sculptures at Rodin Museum first! There's so much to do but I'm only staying 4 nights in Paris with time lost due to travelling from Lucerne and back home to SG.

Re Swiss Pass, I guess I have to get my lazy ass off the couch to do the Math. Thanks for sharing.

If u are taking the train and the ferry just get the pass, they have different kinds so take a look and decide which one suits yr needs.you won't believe how crazy expensive it can be to take the ferry, cable car, train etc without the pass. I don't think u can use it for normal transport like traveling within the city but I could be wrong.

As for lourve not crowded unless free day like what bisoumoi mentioned. And since it is so big unless u only want to see the "blockbusters" it's actually not that crowded. If u r a museum person, get the museum pass u can skip the queues at lourve IIRC. Also for Rodin just go to the garden can already no need to bother with the museum inside, think can grab a sandwich and just sit at the garden all the famous stuff is outside anyway

That's all I remember for now,not a branded bag person so can't help u there but think u have done your research. if u want to know sight seeing stuff just let me know

From what you mentioned, I think it's best to get the pass then. Do you know if I can use for taking the train from Zurich airport to Interlaken?

I like the idea of munching a sandwich amongst Rodin's sculptures! Will definitely do that if weather permits. Heard it's rainy at that time of the year.

I'm not going to brave the crowd even if it means I get free entry into The Louvre.

Not sure abt the train from airport cos we were driving. Go to the Swiss tourism board and ask them to recommend for u! They shld be nice haha...

Actually Musee Or'say is lovely!!! I prefer it to the lourve, lourve is too big for me, very overwhelming. Or'say has guided tours in English can't remember timing and date but try to catch if u can,it's very good.

Yes, quite a few people told me d'Orsay is better but I'm hoping to see Mona Lisa first. :)
