Recipe for Lumpia

At the Experience Asia 2008 festival on Saturday we had some really tasty food. Among the different varities we tried was something called Lumpia from the Phillipines. It is quite yummy so I thought I would post a recipe for them (ours had pork in them but you can add whatever meat you want) that I sangged from here.

My favorite is the Lumpia Shangai my wife makes. We simplify it quite a bit. While she browns the beef or pork, I put onions, garlic & carrots in the food processor & grind it up. Then she mixes it w. the meat.

We use LUMPIA WRAPPERS which are quite different than egg roll or spring roll wrappers...they're much thinner & make a nice crisp roll. The trouble is they're difficult to use: I peel them apart while my wife rolls them up.

(Schlurrp) I'm salivating so much now, I'm going to suggest lumpia tonight for dinner....
