Marco Ships...

Honestly...does anyone else feel Marco got jipped on the pairing end of things? Poor guy was the best character, in my humble opinion, and just got the brush off from the ladies! He was adorable and funny! Shouldn't have gotten the haircut though, long hair Marco ftw ( Read more... )

I ship Marco/Rachel a lot, especially since it was canon in the MM4 alternaverse! Clearly they really could have worked well together. I like them because they have a very clear-eyed view of each other: Marco is under no illusions about Rachel's dark side, but he also accepts it. And Rachel is the same about Marco's ruthlessness ( ... )

I don't hate on all slash, lol. I actually find romance of any sort pretty adorable. But I tend not to like slash or yaoi/yuri pairings in fandoms that aren't intended for those sorts of relationships. Marco was always portrayed as straight and I really can't think of him liking guys.  The reason I mentioned it in the main post is because I felt I should clarify my own preferences. If people want to post their Marco slash pairings, I'm not gonna freak on them, but I don't want them to post it expecting me to jump around squeeing over how adorable their ship is.

As for the MarcoxCassie thing, yeah, I can see that. It's actually funny you say that, because I'm a lot like Cassie myself, and Marco was my first fictional crush. Lol.

I think a character like my OC works because she is shrewd and won't take his crap. She can see that he's up to something, but she's not the sort to be super coddling even if she knows somethings wrong. I don't think Marco could deal with someone he thought pitied him, and that might be the only thing about ( ... )

Uh huh, and what sort of fandoms are those, pray tell??

Marco was portrayed as not bisexual how? No one expects you to "squee" over a pairing you don't ship (jfc are you 12? no one uses that word after middle school)

Also yeah men who go on and on about how much they love women are never closeted. Ever.

You really should've put some more thought into this post, yikes. If you get jumped on, you quite deserve it.

I ship Marco/Cassie and Marco/Rachel. The guy is just so shippable. *shrugs*

I'm a huge Jake/Cassie fan, but I think Marco/Cassie is really interesting, especially since K.A. is essentially Cassie and Michael is basically Marco. He could be pretty mean to her (eg. #19 and #28 when he calls her out on her hypocrisy). And sometimes he just does not get her. But Cassie doesn't seem to hold a grudge against him. I enjoy the heart-to-heart moments they have: #4, #24 and #30. There might be more, but I haven't read all the books. But I can't see them getting together because of Jake. They're both too loyal for that. But Cassie can see through Marco, and even though it makes him uncomfortable, I think it makes for a good dynamic. He calls her out on her choices, and she keeps him honest. It also equally couldn't work because they are each other's complete opposite. They would have to work hard to stay together. I don't think Marco would want to.

Marco/Rachel are great for obvious reasons. They have insane chemistry. And it's plausible ( ... )

Hey, I'm a long-time lurker so I hope this isn't bad etiquette to post in those circumstances. I'd like to quickly ask that you not "cringe" at how I interpret the text in the series, since it's my own adolescence, experiences, and life it tends to reflect ( ... )

Anyway, it only makes sense for this subsequent comment to focus on the concept of shipping Marco in a same-sex relationship. As you can see, I have quite a lot of feelings about how Marco feels about Jake, especially early on in the series before the war took its toll on their relationship. Following and protecting Jake was Marco's primary motivation until #5, and even after that remained one of his topmost priorities, as evidenced in megamorphs #3, like I said above. I don't ship Jake/Marco so much as I like to think about the "maybe". There's something almost bittersweet about Marco's secret childhood crush getting trampled along with their friendship during the war ( ... )

I can understand your views, and I'm very sorry if I offended. I have nothing personal against same sex relationships, just so you know. And I suppose since I ship many non-canon pairings myself, I was out of line. I guess it was just me attempting a joke on my own weariness over all the pairing that I view as changing a character's sexuality. It was made in poor taste, and I apologize ( ... )

Hon, you really need to get over 'seeing a character as straight' because there's no signs of being straight. Other than a character professing themselves to be straight (and even then...).

Your seeing a character as straight inherently blinds you to any other possibilities. It's not changing his sexuality when his sexuality is never made clear. If all you see in a story is a character eating an apple, do you assume that character is a vegetarian? Or do you think it might be a bit narrow-minded to assume a character's entire palate (and exclude a changing palate) from a few different scenes of them eating?
