From the sounds of it, we are going to put my cat to sleep this weekend. I met her in late 1996/early 1997. The past ten years have been really wonderful.
she had arthritis in her paws for at least a year now,. she has been having heart trouble. around thanksgiving we took her to the vet because she was sick. her lungs were full of water. we were giving her heart medicine pills in tuna, but a few weeks ago she stopped eating the tuna. she threw up when my dad forced the pills down her throat. it has been a downward spiral. she is breathing funny so we think she has water inside her again and they said that it hurts her to take out the water. her fur still hasn't grown back where they shaved her for the surgery. she cries when we pick her up, she barely moves or eats, she has lost a lot of weight; she is old and tired and needs to go to sleep.
um, well, i was looking around my boyfriend/odobenidae's friend's page and your entry just kills me. KILLS ME. we have four cats and the day any of them have to go will send me straight to the looney bin, probably. i feel for you. i'm so sorry and if she's that sick then definitely you're doing the right thing. take care.
hello, it is nice to hear from youanitaskinneyJanuary 27 2007, 00:03:41 UTC
yes I talked to him earlier I think you were upset about a cat named mattie who needs medicine too.
we took her to the vet this morning in her favorite basket. I had to pick her body up this afternoon. I screamed a lot in the car on the way home. she got rigor mortis in the same position that she had in the basket. when we buried her, she looked like she was sleeping. I am very happy that my family could make the last ten years of her life good ones, but it is sad to think that after I change my bedsheets this time, I will not have cat fur on them again for a very long time. I am very glad that I believe in heaven.
My deepest sympathies. We had to say goodbye to our cat in December. It's not easy to go through, but we have to judge honestly when it's time to let them go, because we owe it to them not to let them suffer.
