Earlier this week I went out with Shrek for a drive around the countryside that surrounds us and took the camera. Here are a few of the resulting pics...
Thanks. And save away - I love looking at that one.
Most of these pics are taken in colour, however, I'm a whore for black and white, so I convert them. I think it gives more atmosphere.
Once I get somewhere decent to live and have it sorted out properly, you should come visit. I have a lot of things I could say about Wales, but it really is beautiful.
the fences that are supposed to keep the sheep off the road
I love how that's the intended, and not the actual. Because it's so true; especially if you've ever lost an hour sitting in the street waiting for the sheep to move ^_^
Beautiful pics, thanks for posting! Makes me miss the UK :(
Yeah. Sheep are a menace...especially since hitting one generally does more damage to your car, while the sheep just walks off....fluffy little bastards.
LOL. I don't drive, so unfortunately that isn't going to happen. But I imagine it is an experience.
Hadrian's Wall is surrounded by a lot of beautiful countryside. We visited a section of that as a side trip when we went to the Lake District - which I totally adore as a place to visit.
It would be so cool if that did amount to something. Any thoughts on where?
I love black & white pix... I think by eliminating the color, you also eliminate the distraction allowing you to really ~see~ the view...
These are some very sere shots... timeless... especially the idea of the old Roman road...connecting the viewer to it's antiquity...
Well done!
(with a few exceptions the views are similar...to me... of a number of small valleys in coastal ranges in northern California...ubiquitous earthly views, eh?)
I really adore black and white - timeless and, I don't know...I just think colour clouds the issue sometimes.
Huh? I'd love to come to CA and see some of the views there. I'm not really interested so much in tourist traps - maybe the Grand Canyon and Yellowstone - I'd love to see America though. And I mean really see it.
The US is SO big... and there's SO much to see in it... scattered from coast to coast for the lower 48... not even considering Alaska or Hawaii... which I've yet to see myself... and actually, I've pretty much only seen the states west of the Mississippi River with just a few on the eastern side...
I love the hills and mountains best... and there are numerous amazingly beautiful places here in the Ozarks (temporary residence to spend time with Mom and Gramma before they pass) but for sheer spectacular views, California can't be beat...
Maybe I'll be back on the west coast when you finally make the trip and I'll show you around the parts I know!
Yeah, you'd need a lot of time to even scratch the surface of the US. And a lot of money. Probably not going to happen in my case.
Hills and mountains are why I love it here so much. I moved from suburbia to an area that is quite built up, yet still pretty rural. I wouldn't change getting up and being able to see countryside from my window.
Hopefully I will be able to get over to the US some day. Next year is all about Canada though.

You really have an eye for composition and the black and white tones just really add to the atmosphere. I wish I lived in a place that beautiful.

LOL! Yes!! Although you haven't truly driven in the UK until you've had to stop for a hedgehog. And wait. And wait.
Always a memorable experience. As was climbing around on Hadrian's Wall.
I've started eyeing the UK for grad school, but no idea if it'll actually amount to anything.
