If you want me to you can give me your info and I can design you a very nice resume using InDesign...that way I could make you PDF copies that can be read more easily.
if you like you can email me at trindesign@yahoo.com oh and if you wanna see my design portfolio look at www.trindesign.com (BEWARE ITS REALLY OLD!)
Thanks for the offer, but part of the point was to have the document be in a format I understand and can edit. I would appreciate tips and criticism on the formatting, though.
Are you sure you're looking for a job and not trying to find male geeks to date? :-P Because that discusion of LaTeX etc is hot.
(And for some reason I find myself thinking that maybe your mother teaches math, and if that's the case, I'm extra-confused, because I thought TeX had a reputation for better equation support than Word.)
Nope, my mom is the secretary for the democratic party of oregon... which is just the most recent name for her continually-changing position of overworked-volunteer and homemaker. She's had calculus, but I think that might be it.
And, while I have yet to date anyone else, I'm not currently looking for yet another male geek to date. They're *weird*. Or maybe that's just bio people.
The problem was that OpenOffice, NeoOffice, and Word for Mac all had problems with the old resume file my mom made me (possibly "polished" from one I'd originally made, but that distinction is now long lost)... such that I had to ask for her to edit it whenever I wanted to have an updated version. For that matter, it didn't even print properly from her own computer.. screwed up margins and stuff. And, it didn't use the same formatting throughout, for parallel structures. Clearly not logically 'set.
But yeah, i could use OpenOffice (or TextPad, or Strings) to extract the info, at least.
