I am stealing a few blissful minutes to myself during Theo's nap to update my journal and also read my sadly-neglected friends page. Now that I've started this post, I'm sure he'll be awake and raring to go in five minutes.

The weekend was really great. The time that I got to spend with Claire was really lovely. She was in a grumpy mood for the ( Read more... )

That looks so good! My mom made a kugel with cottage cheese, raisins, and pineapple. I love it, but have never tried to make it since I'm sure my Goy husband wouldn't touch it, and the kids likely wouldn't either :(

It tasted really good too! Your mom's version sounds amazing.

My best friend growing up was Jewish, and I have this huge love for Jewish comfort food. She, of course, has this total dislike for it and used to love coming to my house and eating ham, haha.

I'm really sad you weren't able to make it on Sunday, too! I kept handing Theo off to people who had never held babies before, so Matt could eat. I was all "No don't worry, this is a super excellent baby." So, good parenting, you!

Let's hang out soon!

Oh yes, I would love to hang out soon! We should do something that involves me leaving Theo with Matt and having grown-up time!

And I don't think it's so much good parenting as it is Theo having a lovely personality, but thank you!

Like I said to Matt, I don't even I feel like "Oh here is my friend Matt, and his baby!" I feel more like "Oh here is my friend Matt, and my much smaller friend Theo!"

I had to chuckle at the word "kugel" since that also means "ball" in German :)
It does look very yummy though! I will make it one day.
Glad to hear you are enjoying your training :)

From the wikipedia entry for kugel:

"The name of the dish comes from the German Kugel meaning "sphere, globe, ball"; thus the Yiddish name likely originated as a reference to the round, puffed-up shape of the original dishes (compare to German Gugelhupf - a type of ring-shaped cake). Nowadays, however, kugels are often baked in square pans. There is a common association of this word to the Hebrew k'iygul ("as a circle"), but this is a folk etymology."

I'm glad you had a stimulating experience at teacher training! I swore it was something I'd do, but alas, no yoga for me besides shotty home practice in the last 2+ years.

Matt's absence of breasts..LOL
