aw, that's so lovely and quiet and sad, and just a little bit hopeful and sinister. there never is a happily ever after for the designated bad guys, is there?

Thanks, I'm glad you liked it.

"there never is a happily ever after for the designated bad guys"

That's a perfect way to put it.

Ooh I liked. Not what I usually read but interesting - I hate how films end and you never know what's next (I know, you're supposed to use your imagination - I find it so much easier to use other people's :P) and with Magneto that's a particularly powerful subject for me because he was, well, so powerful. Love how his anguish comes across.

Thanks. I get a little nervous writing Magneto, especially like this -- powerless.

Oooh, very nice! I was excited to see a Pyro/Gambit fic--I don't know many who write this pairing, yay!--and I really liked this. Your writing is great; excellent characterization especially. I liked John in this a lot--his loyalty was both frigthening and oddly touching.

This whole thing gave me shivers. Excellent stuff!

Thank-you. I'm glad you liked it. I knew I wanted to hook Pyro up with a mutant who hadn't been in the films but I couldn't think of one, until I started writing the chess scene and then I thought Gambit, of course. They go well together.

I agree! They're a couple in my Ideology-verse fics. I really like writing them together, they're both so shifty. *g*

I love this! Definitely one of my favourite X-Men fics...terrific characterisation and dialogue. I felt so bad for Magneto at the end of the film...better to die than have the very essence of what you are taken away.

Thanks for this, it made me feel better about the film :)

Thanks! John is fun to write, Magneto is intimidating to write. I wasn't crazy about the film, but it did leave a lot plots dangling in such a way that fan fiction is almost required. I think it will spark a lot of creative responses.

Ooh, you put Gambit in your fic, yey! My absolute favourite and he gets no love anymore since the movies came out.

I love this plot! And the "Magneto was right" shirts - I so want one. XD

Pyro annoys the hell out of me - I mean, it's awesome what he can do - but he's just that sort you wrote him as here, always talking and talking, just so annoying. But I think you did a good job with him. He made me laugh a lot, too.

"You can pay me back. Do you know how much furniture makers earn? They earn shit."

"She could be really useful in the cause, I mean, if we get a lot of diabetics."

John could never get them to understand that if it was crap to start with, being a hundred years old didn't make it worth anything, it just made it hundred year old crap.

I wish I could make people understand that, too. *L*

Much enjoyed!

Thanks! Yeah, John can be annoying, I think because he is very young in a lot of ways and also kinda evil. He's fun to write. I love Gambit, too. I didn't really think to add him to this fic until I started writing the chess scene.

I'd kill for a "Magneto was right" shirt.
