Rocks 'n' stuff

My grandson Elliott gave me a candle holder a few years ago - a stubby container you fill with water. It had those Chinese stones in it, but I removed those and put some of my own in, instead. I don't leave water in it as it just leaves an alkaline mark as it evaporates, but the stones still look nice.  It lives on the bookcase behind the sofa

Very nice pics, again! I like the rocks, of course, but the woood grain is nice too, and the bowls, and the furniture. It's all very appealing. You take good photos.

I'm glad you enjoy it! Of course I know it's not of much interest to many, but then I suppose I'm really doing it for myself - and those I *know* will have some fun with it. That's my lovely dining room table top - I found the table buried under another one and two chairs on top of that in a pokey little shop a few years ago. Then I saved up and had it refinished and varithaned. The varithane isn't very thick, I think he only put on one coat though I stressed my table got used for an awful lot of work, like pinning material, but I guess he didn't do it twice. It's Birch and the top is birch veneer ( ... )

All the stones are quite nice and very interesting but that nifty little blue swirly bowl really caught my eye! Such a sassy little beauty!

Isn't it a darling! I'm a sucker for bowls of any size, but eventually one runs out of shelf space, (or any possible reason for buying another), so it's very sensible to fill 'em up with stones! Barry just raises his eyebrows when I trot out that excuse.
