Eleven people, apparently all students, have been killed in a shooting incident and fire at a vocational school in Kauhajoki in Western Finland. Several others have been injured.

I just saw this on the news and instantly remembered that you were Finnish. This is fucked up.
Just today I realised that my previously-friendly-neighbourhood-randomage-shop sells weapon
WHAAAAAAATT??? But isn't hunting a big tradition there, so at the same time, there might be a few weaponry stores.
Bastard is dead, of course. I wish they wouldn't finish themselves off like that.
I completely agree, so selfish. If you can kill that many people you should at least have the resolve to face the results.

Oh yeah! I was shocked and appalled too - three hours before this began, ironic. Have never even seen a gun up close before but there they were, inside a monter. The fact that they were locked up sort of hints at that they weren't in fact replicas, which was my first thought. And yeah, hunting IS big here, but who the fuck needs to hunt in HELSINKI? No fucking elks here, just city rabbits and you don't go at them with a fucking Kalashnikov! Urgh. We do have like, the third most weapons (after Yemen and the US, IIRC) - in the world, so guess it - coupled with the worst suicide stats in the world (go us!! Or go, darkness!!) - had to start showing itself eventually. But, stil. STILL!

Just- no words. :( I hate when things like this happen. Things like this shouldn't happen. Schools are supposed to be places you feel safe (despite how frequently that isn't the case).
They're strengthening gun policies which won't really resolve anything, I suspect
Politicians and people in charge are so intent on stopping the problem, yet they don't focus on what's causing the problem in the first place. No matter how strictly regulated it is, someone intent on a killing spree will manage to get their hands on a gun somehow. And if not, they'll find something else that will work just as well.
