It was 6:47 on a Wednesday night, and Brendon was already seventeen minutes late. He had a feeling that if he didn't leave the house soon, Spencer would just give up on waiting around and call up Ryan to hang out; Brendon really, really didn't want Spencer to get upset with him over this again.

"Mom, I really need to get to the library before it closes. I need that book for tomorrow morning!" Brendon knew it was a lame excuse - and the typical one, at that - but when Spencer's text came through [m & d are out. meet up 6:30?] it was the first thing he could think of to try and get out of his house.
