Beatles songs being used in commercials - and ect.
(I choose this topic because it seems to be a current one of interest
because of the most recent one using John's voice for a charity commercial)

I don't care as long as it's tasteful.
The Jonas Brothers, on the other hand, need to be punched in the throat.

If it fits with the commercial's subject, it's fine, if it doesn't then it's forever hated.

The "Hello Goodbye" covers in the Target commercials piss me off, but that's just because they're all lousy covers, not because I'm opposed to Target or anything.

The only time commercial use of music really bothers me is if the ad is in direct opposition to the material being used (for instance the anal raping 'Born in the USA' regularly receives)

I don't mind the fact that it's being used in a commercial so much as the fact that it's always the shittiest cover ever. I don't understand whatever legal thing it is that's preventing original Beatles songs from being used in the media, but whatever it is needs to go die because I would much prefer original Beatles songs in commercials/movies/TV to those lousy excuses for covers.

THIS. I almost died when I first heard that (now-infamous) Target Jonas Brothers Hello "Goodbuy" commercial.

Now that I've gotten used to it, I just heap loudly vocal verbal abuse upon it whenever I see it.

Ditto. The song wasn't the best of The Beatles, but still it's so much better than the cover.
