Gay Marriage Ban may not be opposed

As some have already mentioned (see thorfinn for some useful links) the PM is backing changes that are described as banning gay marriages. Worse, Labor looks set not to oppose them.

Disagree? Write to your local member (Grayndler types Mr Anthony Alabanese is your rep.). Express your concern.

Perhaps, but what do you suggest as an alternative?

Would they ignore it if they got 50 such e-mails? 100?

Oh, I am aware of this. I am counting on volume making the differene that content does not. If I seriously thought that my letter woudl be read I would have taken more time and greater length. All I need is enough for it not to be dismissed as 'crank'.

I will be following this up with a hand written letter when I get home. I know these carry some more weight, although, again, not that much.

I will attend protests and marches on this matter and I will discuss it in those forums and areas where I can to try and raise awareness and encourage others to find ways to involve and express themselves.

Do you have any further suggestions?

Ok - that's it. I'm getting a haircut and photo's taken on Saturday, so I can get them signed in preparation for applying for citizenship. Enough is enough. This is a great country, built on great principles that are slowly being eroded by wankers afraid of doing the right thing and losing the vote of fearful conservatives.
