I return after a long absence, having done the Art Fair off the Square and finished the rewrite.  Hi everyone!

Yay! I positively identified a weed in my garden as Lamb's Quarters, an edible plant.  I've had it for salad the last two days.  It's great with ranch dressing, I can tell you.

It's the little things that do it for me.

It always goes so fast.  It's one of those times when you live precisely in the now, almost never pausing to reflect, going straight from one experience to the next.  Then afterwards you relive little moments.

Biscuits (recipe and "nine things" tip courtesy of my dear friend the Empress, instructions #8 & 9 my own):

1 3/4 cups flour
2 teaspoons baking powder
one half teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon sugar
one half teaspoon baking soda

Five tablespoons of butter, cut into small pieces and chilled
3/4 cup buttermilk

Flour for patting out biscuits

I just read this morning, 8.30 at Michelangelo's--and a ridiculous number of people showed up to see us.  YA?  The Prineas Factor? Desperate for an espresso? Who can say.  I loved reading with a bunch of rockstars who don't know they're rockstars. 

 It's good to be home, talking shop and listening shop.  I've looked in on some fabulous panels (wall to wall people, quite impossible to stay), including one on historical research for novels with the incomparable and incorrigible Ellen Klages, and one on what we can and can't write in YA fiction with Sharyn November, Tamora Pierce, Mary Anne ( Read more... )
