I am broke as shit but somehow, someway, I'm going to score the cash I need to get there- I think I may have found a job under the table that would earn me $ this weekend. I'm afraid of having to sleep away from my husband

Social Security Disability hearings

I filed for Social Security Disability in 1996 and it took 2 years to get my claim through. I was denied twice before getting a lawyer who finally got my claim approved in an Administrative Hearing.

My lawyer advised me that the second time I had filed the SSA's own doctor reported back I was so sick he didn't see how I could possibly work and they still denied me. I actually had to return to work over the summer between the second and third filing, before hiring a lawyer, but was still approved in the end.

Don't give up! It's good that you have a lawyer and are in a position where you can stay off work long enough to get your claim adjudicated. I know times are hard and it's depressing to have to jump through their hoops when you're actually sick. Keep hanging in there, it will be worth it in the end if your lawyer can get you back pay to the date you first filed.
