1) I recommend pilfering cell phones from the props department of TV shows. That's what I do.

2) There are payphones in Belfast (and the rest of the UK i assume) that you can send text messages from!

1) i don't have much (read: any) access to prop departments, unless you count the one at the performing arts high school i went to; and even then, all they had there were those fake burning cigarettes and seven couches.

2) though it is probably cheaper to buy a new phone rather than a ticket to belfast, the prospect of text messaging pay phones is too exciting to pass up. goodbye california, and your shoddy, talk only phones

As long as you're not dropping them in the terlit and then peeing on them, you should be able to fix any wet phone (dirty!) by drowning it in rubbing alcohol...

Absolutely not. It's 4:40AM, so I probably shouldn't try explaining it, but there are plenty on articles online, I'm sure. I've SEEN it work!

okay, so! i took the battery out on saturday, let everything dry out, and just put it back in this morning. it totally turns on and all, and everything works, except it won't send or receive text messages or calls, and the speaker doesn't work. so basically, all the reasons to have a cell phone are non-functional, but at least i can still play tetris

Sometimes the phone is OK, just the battery is messed up. If you know someone who has the same phone as you, you could try it with their battery...
