[adj.] using very few words
laconic set #4.
silence
When we're on the phone
I count the number of times
we sit in silence;
listening to each other's breathing
across the telephone wire.
rain
I woke up to the pitter-patter
of the rain outside
and wondered;
if I drowned myself,
could I be knocking on your window one day?
wraith
Carve yourself a little wooden cocoon
from which you can glimpse
the electric world outside,
like the silhouette of a wraith
drowning in the scattered thoughts
of your mind;
except you are not drowning.
You are drifting in slumber,
a paroxysm of seraphic warmth
wrapping around you
like the arms of a lost lover.
joy
what brings happiness
differs from one to the other:
while a simple 'hey' from her
could bring you joy,
I'm content with seeing the creases
that form on your face
when you laugh.
drift
I am the silver thread between two clouds
both of which I want to drift on
and yet the winds pull them apart
and make me choose,
but I can't detach myself from either
no matter how loudly I scream at the birds
to come and peck at me,
so I may selfishly, contently drift with both.
