What's going ON inside that head of yours?

I'm not a girl prone to headaches. Frankly, I don't think they felt safe in our house growing up - my father wouldn't have tolerated them, I'm sure, and I really rarely get them as a "grown up" (I use the term loosely, of course). But I have noticed that I've been getting them off and on for ... maybe the last 5 years or so. Certainly more than ( Read more... )

If it's a tension headache (say from stress or bad posture at your computer), a heat pack on your neck/shoulders/base of your head can help too. Amber

Between 5 an 6, insert "Is it my hormones?" I know someone whose sudden spate of headaches turned out to be triggered by perimenopause.

so I DO know how awful and how scary they can be. Still, every now and then, I can get one that goes off the scale and is VERY SCARY. Quiet dark room, and an ice pack definitely can help (as well as good old prescription drugs). For years I have also turned to acupuncture and chiro but for occasional headaches like yours, that probably isn't necessary. Hormones could definitely be considered. Make sure you write down and document. Did you eat or drink anything different before the headache? Also, I know for me, the weather is a trigger. Sudden up or down changes in the weather or air pressure or a strong wind will do it for sure.

Going for a brisk walk (exercise), believe it or not, also helps. And stretch out those neck muscles, too, with neck rolls.

I don't think I ate or drank anything different than usual, but funny you should mention the wind. We had CRAZY wind that week.

Thanks for the comments, and also for the idea to write it down. That makes sense.

I never even thought of that, but my nose has been running like a faucet.

Thanks! (and I do)
