Here's a question to all, but directed more at those experienced in small animal care. Heidi's hamster (Flynt) has a swollen back leg, and we don't know what caused it. We don't know if he hurt it in his wheel or if it's an infection that got in through a cut. The foot is slightly darker than usual, with a tiny dark spot on it. Any ideas as to ( Read more... )

take him to the preston small animal clinic (the number is in the phonebook). they are super nice there and really know about little animals! they have helped me with many a mousey problems! i hope he feels better!

Thank you, Flynt has an appointment for tomorrow! He's never been to the doctor before, he's very excited.

agreed with leen. it could be that he got it caught in the wheel and is broken [hence swollen]. there are some really good pet websites to see if this is something common, also check livejounral communities [post something there and someone might know]. anyway, make a vet appointment for sure.

Once upon a time a hamster of mine would climb on the ceiling of his cage, and he fell off and tore upen his armpit. I think he died shortly after that.

It was sad.
