I just realized...

that we Indians talk a lot at workplace. After a few days of cribbing about silent colleagues who shut others out, I realize that it is not they who speak less, it is us who chat a lot at work. Or maybe it was specific to my last job that I had for close to four years.

Maybe you are right. We (Indians) chat a bit too much. When i sat to think abt it, i realised that in my last work place, there was nobody to talk to. Even if there were ppl around, I hardly got to talk to anyone. People only work in the office and chat during the lunch break.

I sometimes think people talked a little too much in my previous company. Ask A if he thinks this is true. However, I am seeing the benefits of not chatting a lot during work hours. :)

I will write to you today.

Well, it depends - we talk a fair bit over here, and everybody else in my group is German, save one, who's American.

I think it is incorrect of me to generalize based on my limited experience. However, I can guarantee that people in my last company talked a little too much. Hell, they still send those chain mails (which I truly enjoy) that keep me from working. :]

Yes, we do. Just shut door on internal meeting and shushed noisy relativelys enior guy from another division. I do it with a hassled looking snarl, so they usually do shush up a bit.

I remember there used to be some dames in your Delhi office as well who bugged with too much talking. You should move to Singapore. :]

there may be those two types but i really don't know how people can get by through their 6.5 hours (kintana.. was it? smth like that) of Real work and 1.5 hours of general presence in the office without talking movies, music, without humming, without asking about or talking about the photographs that are on each other's cubicles, without a brief chat about whats going to be for lunch, and a slightly longer one full of witticisms and exagerrated comparisons about how bad lunch was

and of course a little bit here and there about work ... :)

so dun u think about those silent types... talk random, get work done!
