Every year on the Independence Day, we would go to the school for an hour. Empty handed, we would march straight to the assembly area and line up for the action. Patriotic group songs by each house - Raman, Tagore, Ashoka, and Shivajee - ( Read more... )

White PT skirt and top, white canvas shoes freshly polished with Kiwi White and white pristine socks. :D

This post brings back some funny memories. Like being one of the 'chosen' kids for a group-singing session of patriotic songs (Jhanda ooncha rahe hamara and Khud jiyo were my favourites). I would try and hog the mic, as often as I could.

We didn't get any samosas or ladoos though. One piddly peda, that's it. :(

Ha ha! Completely opposite to you, I was. Whenever I was dragged by the music teachers (who seemed to have some misplaced belief that I could sing) for group songs, I would stay as far away from the mic as possible. Dude, my Math teacher in VIII standard made me stand in the class for 15 minutes because I would not sing. Yes, Math teacher, not music. Go figure.

Sweet memories indeed!

We had houses named Tagore and Ashoka in my school too. The other two were Akbar and Vivekananda. We had a colour for each house too. Akbar::yellow, Ashoka::red, Tagore::green, Vivekananda::blue.

Happy Independence Day to you too!

Happy memories! Our school also had some colors for each house, which I have conveniently forgotten. I used to hate the rivalry between houses and was only interested in Scouts-Guides sessions. :)
