Every year on the Independence Day, we would go to the school for an hour. Empty handed, we would march straight to the assembly area and line up for the action. This post brings back some funny memories. Like being one of the 'chosen' kids for a group-singing session of patriotic songs (Jhanda ooncha rahe hamara and Khud jiyo were my favourites). I would try and hog the mic, as often as I could.
We didn't get any samosas or ladoos though. One piddly peda, that's it. :(

We had houses named Tagore and Ashoka in my school too. The other two were Akbar and Vivekananda. We had a colour for each house too. Akbar::yellow, Ashoka::red, Tagore::green, Vivekananda::blue.
