Evolution is honestly the most amazing thing I have ever heard of or seen. It makes me optimistic; the fact that, over mere thousands of years, we can change our physical form out of necessity is just astounding. Life may be heading downward, and you may be surrounded by people whom you can't trust, but still, at the bottom of it all, we're all ( Read more... )

Just imagine...assuming our species doesn't die out in the next few decades/centuries/millenia...
Imagine, you marry [NAME UNKNOWN] and have one child. This child will have ninety-seven great-great-great-great-grandchildren. There is a global epidemic, and 99% of humanity is wiped out. (At least) one of those great-great-great-great-grandchildren will remain, and s/he will be responsible for repopulating the world.
Then, assume (god forbid) that you contract some lethal disease that kills you before you meet [NAME UNKNOWN] and have a child. The entire first scenario doesn't happen, and humanity dies out.

I just realized: this doesn't have anything to do with evolution.
Who cares?

But it has everything to do with siezing the moment and having multiple children and putting an end to the "fad" of having only one child, which is complete BULLSHIT.

Haha. You misspelled "seizing."

Oh, and add 'saying "yay!"' to your interests list. If it's done correctly, I will no longer be the only one with that interest.

Can you name some communities where I can meet more LJ-ers? I know these exist because you've advertised them.

We talked about evolution in Biology today at school and all I could think of was how in thousands of years, everything will look COMPLETELY different, I don't mean just the world .. but humans will look so funky.

I love this post. It's beautiful.

Whats sad is you are honestly the first person I have ever encountered that has believed in Evolution...

But it is one of the most fascinating things in nature. When you look at how complex natural selection is and how if one little thing was different, things today would be totally up heaved.

This post is truly brilliant by the way.
