Appearance: One of the darkest wines I've ever seen. High glycerin content evidenced by prominent "legs".Clear, very deep purple color.
Nose: high alcohol, prominent wood, some spices. Very similar nose to Turley wines. So this should be interesting viz. a viz. the relative price points.

"Legs" are those long viscous drops that run down from a former surface level as a wineglass is tilted back and forth. It indicates something of the character of a wine.
If you have a World Market near you and want to learn what $50 boutique wines from California are like, try this Jade Mountain syrah for $7.99. You may not like it, but the experience is educational at minimum cost.

We do have a World Market. I unsuccessfully shopped for red lentils there one day. We'll look for your Syrah. My foster father used to say "the day you stop learning is the day you might as well be dead." I appreciate all the help staying alive I can get.
