This tasting is getting more interesting as time passes.  On the second day the Rook is fading fast whereas the Sharecropper has developed dramatically.  The number of flavors is quite remarkable.  Dominant is cassis and cloves with notes of  red licorice, bell pepper and many more.  That's what makes a good wine - when ever mouthful brings a ( Read more... )

Visited my favorite wine store, Wine Discount Center in Highland Park, and asked if they carried more Owen Roe wines than Sharecropper Cab.  She said she only had one other, an associated label named Rook.  She added that the Sharecropper has been flying off the shelf and it is difficult to get more ( Read more... )

Conditions: Pop & pour, no food
Appearance: No off colors, clear
Nose: pencil shavings, spice,deep red fruit. No bad notes.
Taste: Nice Cab flavors,nice acids, medium body, European in style, balanced. Bit short on the finish - but maybe I'm just being difficult.
Overall: Good value. I'd like to try this with food...

Appearance:  Deep garnet red, edges are translucent but I cannot see through the  1/3 full glass.  When swirled, the wine clings to the glass, then runs down in extended beads.

Appearance: One of the darkest wines I've ever seen. High glycerin content evidenced by prominent "legs".Clear, very deep purple color.

Nose: high alcohol, prominent wood, some spices. Very similar nose to Turley wines. So this should be interesting viz. a viz. the relative price points.
