Initial Separation

As a few of my friends have pointed out (and as is the case with many of them as well)  a lot of us have nothing new to say. Ugh. You know, I purposefully left out of my huge recent LJ post about adulthood (don't know if you saw it) a section on friendship and disappointment. People our age are struggling with adulthood in a lot of ways, I think, and accountability and responsibility to others, even in the case of simple, stupid things like RSVPing and even, god forbid, sticking with said RSVP are beyond a lot of people's grasps. It's disheartening and kind of gross, but I am trying to come to terms with it. I recently had an evening planned with eight people going to a show, many of whom I was supposed to buy tickets for (and they would pay me back when we arrived). On a hunch, I decided to call each of them one last time before buying the tickets, and not one of them was coming. No one had bothered to call, and I could have been out over $100. I was truly disgusted that day. This has happened to varying extents in so many friendships of mine... I don't even know what to do about it. Not have friends? Find entirely new ones and hope they are ( ... )
