Someone looked a little too chipper for her tastes. Tex stared him down as she approached while trying to remember what his name was. It wasn't anything she had paid attention to before and if she had heard it said, it certainly hadn't stuck with her. He was just another guy stuck in the same situation she was and apparently was handy like the kid. That at least made him worth keeping around in her book.

She slowed to a stop as they neared and kept up the visor-to-eye contact. "What are you up to that has you so happy?"

Happy? He hadn't thought of it that way, but, yes, that was quite possibly true. As for why, he did what was reasonable for anyone in his position and went with the second thing that came to mind: "You know, I've just realized that I'm not being pursued through time and space by a madman and I don't have to walk around here pretending to be human. For me, that's a bit like a vacation." He grinned at his reflection in her visor, not breaking stride. "I'm sure the crushing ennui will catch me up in a few moments, though," he added as he passed.

Not having anything pressing to do, she changed direction to go after him. "Does being chased around by a madman have anything to do with your mechanical abilities?"

He turned to give her a sideways, perplexed look. "Not directly, no."
