Dating a deaf person

This is fabulous... someone deaf has joined the dating game again after years of marriage to a hearing person. The story is quite interesting because when hearing males find out she's deaf, they run a mile and I'm always afraid that will happen to me. But she's written some great tips which I'll copy and paste here.

Fascinating! Deafness wouldn't be an issue with me, as I've had a deaf boss and a deaf friend. I'd also love to learn sign language, however I'm not currently near any deaf friends or acquaintances, so I haven't acted on it.

Have you found it to be a deal breaker with men, out of curiosity?

I don't know much sign lanugage myself!! But it is always interesting to see someone use it.

It's never been a deal breaker, but I still worry that it would be ;)

I would add to that: don't take your deaf date to a loud, dark restaurant. Ever.

I was thinking about this when I was out to dinner with my parents. My mom kept trying to cover her mouth to whisper something to me and it was like, geez, has she forgotten who I am?

Remember your date can’t read your lips in a darkened theater - in a darkened theatre, you don't need to 'read' your date's lips ;)

My fellow cyborg, I'd run a mile to date someone as interesting as you... except, my cat would get jealous.

Oh, I am not doubting that ;) I just think if no one reproduced the human race might be in a bit of trouble :P
