Jono could blame April's sister for this.

Actually, he could blame April's cousin. That Kyle was one weird guy.

i thngk ud loook god in tihs hat, said the text. Then there was a picture of a bedazzled pink cowboy hat. The rhinestones spelled out the word PRINCESS.

It took Jono a little while to reply to April's text. Partly because he was somewhat preoccupied trying to comprehend weird Kaeleeran Protocol, and partly because...

April took a while before replying.

Then there was a picture of the hat again, but this time with a dark scorch mark at the top and a melted candle congealed around it.

Jono was pretty sure he was supposed to be laughing, except what he was looking at was so bizarre, he mostly just stared at it until one of his contingent hit him upside the head with a snowball to get him marching again. He was holding up traffic, so to speak, and they had a lot of ground in the mountains to cover before the next town they were to visit.

He did text Momoko back, though. It was very succinct.
