have you done a scan of this dude's brain? what happened to the lobe that regulates common sense and decency? i swear some people are just born without it. more than i care to imagine.
it's one thing when they're pumping gas or cleaning toilets, but it's another when somebody's life is potentially in their hands. it scares the shit out of me to think of some of the med students i've met and other people i grew up with getting into things as critical as healthcare.
do i really want people like that performing surgery on me? thank god for robots.
mmm, brains....apochellipsisApril 23 2006, 03:35:26 UTC
i think that management needs a brain scan as well, why keep someone around who cannot make a simple choice between right and wrong? i heard a story about a couple of med students who were due in OR at 6am for a procedure. one of them was all strung out and told the other "i think i picked the wrong week to stop doing meth..."
first of all, best wishes for your pops & your family. that is one impressive robot. we are officially unnecessary, and need only to go on smoke breaks.
secondly, the reason why that jerk wouldn't let his wife into your hospital is because he thinks everyone is as BAD as he is, on more than one level. you are doing the right thing.
Did anyone actually see this guy take the photo, or see the photo itself? You'll need to know that when you lodge a complaint. Did anyone go to the Nurse Manager or Nursing Supervisor about this? How about the Patient Advocate? Every hospital has one. What is this guy's title, is he licensed, like RN, LPN, RT, even CNA? If he is, you could go to the licensing board with this and he will face very severe disciplinary action, even jail. Whatever you do, do not approach this person and try to tell them to cut it out, because later on when he gets caught(and he will) he can try to blackmail you and say you knew about it, and it will make you a party to it, so to speak. I've seen situations like this before, but they were a little different, involving narcotics, etc. You have to be careful how you handle it. I'm glad you want to do something about it. We can talk about this some more in a less public place if you want...
no one saw him take the photo, he willingly showed it to a couple co-workers! and admitted to the manager that he had done it. the entire night shift of CCU knows about it. he has the same job i do cardiac monitor tech, we are not liscenced at AMC, but other hospitals in NY and the rest of the country do require liscences. i am not even sure who to go to aside from risk management. i am going to ask my friend don about this.... he's an RT and has been there for 20 years. he's a good guy and very good at getting answers. thanks for yr insight.
This is some serious business.I can't believe he showed it to management and they didn't take some sort of action! Be careful with this...the hospital is just as likely to throw YOU under the bus. Good Luck!

it'll only be a matter of time before someone invents robot vices. bender from "futurama" is a scary vision of the future!
