Rant about "the system" and the season

May 24, 2006 23:59

Okay - so get this... for my medicine (the ones that cost an arm and a leg a month and if I had to cover on my own would require a whole 'nother job [$2048.58]) I have ADAP (AIDS Drug Assistance Program). Basically I get my meds covered and only have a small (if any co-pay). They also tend to cover some forms of birth control, antibiotics, etc. ( Read more... )

meds, sick, allergies

Oooh, nice layout!

Anyway, one benadryl, two sudafed. Whatever doesn't kill you makes you stronger, right?

And really, can't you just round to $2050? Or say $2000+? I mean, really. Anal much??

Round up, you're lying, round down, you're making it seem better than it really is. Board members use decimal places.

And then there's the geek thing. And then there' the being pissed off and knowing the exact number because how on top of it one needs to be.

What'll the one benadryl, two sudafed do? Did you just nail down a workable 'nother route?

One benadryl takes care of the allergies, two sudafed takes care of the drowsiness caused by the benadryl.

actually I had to look up drug prices on walgreens.com and then one of my meds doesn't come in a 30 day supply (for the dose I use) so I had to whip out my handy dandy tricky math skillz. After all that I figured I wanted to put the actual cost of everything...

Yeh, get someone who knows how the system works because it's their job to make it work for you, and get the stuff you originally wanted.

Not saying you don't, saying it sounds like a paperclip war.

Then ask the folks at project inform and if ya want, call the Mom's Pharmacy not far from my place. I can also bring this question in to them tomorrow, if you want to rephrase it specifically for them w/ follow up questions for me to ask (for), just say so and I can ask the case managers next door any questions, too.

ick, allergies, they are a funny thing huh? I don't experience them when I am in Boston, but I do when I am in CT. I had taken zyrtec for years but then found it wasn't working for me anymore last summer, so I switched to zyrtec D. Before I did however, the doctor gave me a bunch of (free) samples of other allergy meds, including eye drops and nasal sprays, so that I could find which one worked the best. Sure enough, it was the zyrtec D.

We have a program here in LA called CMAP that covers everything but narcotics and stuff like my phenobarbitol (which is cheap anyway) and there's only a $3 co-pay..but it takes forever to get approved, of course. I wish I had a suggestion for allergy relief but I can't take any of that stuff...it makes my heart race.

yeh, ADAP is a pretty nation-wide thing, but states often sometimes have their own programs implemented as well...

LA isn't that bad, look on the bright side, you could be stuck in a state like Montana or North Dakota that has very limited services because their HIV rate is so extremely low (supposedly).

Well, a lot of people claim that Lousiana's coverage and HIV support is second rate..but no matter where you go, when you're sitting in charity clinics, people have plenty of time to complain. I was approved really fast compared to a lot of people but I think it's because I had already been in the systen for years due to epilepsy and "phamtom immune system disorders" *eyeroll*

Will they cover Allegra? It won't make you sleepy and makes me feel perfectly fine and normal when otherwise I am a groggy, snotty mess.
