Drabbles 1-5
6. Dan Carcillo, Marian Hossa, and Patrick Kane | being bros | for andromeda26
It takes a good four hours for the team’s mood to lighten up, but slowly Joel can see it. A smile here, a joke there, Sharp poking at the back of Hjalmarsson’s neck and ducking when Hammer swats at him, Keith and Seabrook in the corner, heads tipped together and talking.
What catches his attention, though, is a row near the back. The unlikely trio. Carcillo, Hossa, Kane, looking tired, but happy. Joel doesn’t know what has them in bouts of laughter, but he smiles, settles back into his seat, and closes his eyes for the remainder of the trip.
7. Sidney Crosby/Evgeni Malkin | texts | for mamaesme
Sidney spent last summer texting Geno the entire time he was in Russia. It makes him smile, his phone blinking blue and seeing ))) at the end of Geno’s messages.
Geno mentions it one day, jokingly. “Sid text me all the time, so much.” It was enough to make Sidney freeze, and ask him later if he was annoyed by it. Geno looked at him as if he was crazy, said no, Sid never annoy.
Next summer, Geno smiles at him. “Come home with me,” touches Sidney’s shoulder, repeats it. “Better than text.”
Sid says, “Okay.” He can’t say no.
8. Taylor Hall/Jordan Eberle | Christmas morning | for parametre
When Taylor wakes up and stumbles to the living room on Christmas morning, Jordan’s already there, curled up with a blanket and half asleep. The lights are still off except for the ones on the tree, and their fake-fireplace is flickering.
Taylor smiles, rubs his eyes, and carefully sits down next to him. “It’s six am.”
“’m really excited,” Jordan murmurs. He opens his eyes and lifts one arm, and Taylor shifts down, settling into Jordan’s warmth. Jordan noses at his neck, pressing a kiss there, says, “Merry Christmas, babe.”
Taylor turns his head, smiling, to kiss him. “Merry Christmas.”
9. Jonathan Toews/Patrick Kane | Christmas surprise | for iloveyouchicago
Patrick is unusually still when they exchange gifts on Christmas Eve.
The box is almost too big to hold, but it doesn’t weigh much. Jon opens it to find a smaller one, and a smaller one in that one, and so on. By the eighth box, he reaches one that’s about the size of his palm, and Patrick is chewing on his lip when Jon looks up to meet his eyes.
“Patrick?”
“Just-”
A band of silver cradled in black velvet, 19&88 engraved on the inside of it, and Jon says, “Oh my god, yes.”
Patrick’s smile is positively blinding.
10. Taylor Hall/Jordan Eberle/Ryan Nugent-Hopkins | cookies | for digitalviolets
Taylor has dough on his nose, Ryan has a dusting of flour in his hair, and Jordan is sitting on the counter, legs swinging back and forth as he sucks icing contentedly off his index finger.
“This is a disaster,” Ryan says honestly, and Taylor laughs so hard he almost slips and falls on the floor. Jordan manages to catch his wrist, and Taylor leans in to kiss the icing from his lips, humming happily as he does so.
When he pulls away, Ryan’s laughing at them, shaking his head.
Jordan makes a face at the burned cookies. “Shower time?”
