Glasses are intimate and important! I have that kind of prescription and know how rough it is not to see properly. Maybe you could write a letter, asking them to fix the coating?

Needing new lenses totally stinks - I, too, am of the 20/800 variety. My new lenses will cost me nearly $400....yikes! WTF?? Maybe have a small eyewear shop take a look at your lenses - perhaps they're reparable? Good luck. xo.

Do you know your prescription? I know this will sound weird, but I recently got new contacts, and I'm pretty damn blind myself. One of my eyes is -4.25, the other is -4.50. I have extra contact lenses. They're the change-every-two-weeks kind, though I can get nearly a month out of a pair. I can send you two pairs if they'd be the right prescription.

Hiya. I can't vouch for quality since I haven't tried them yet, but on another blog (maitheas?) someone recced a glasses-by-mail company called Zenni Optical that is supercheap. Maybe you could try them before dropping the $400?
