Oh? Well, I mean...I'm really into the meaning behind the symbols (helm for finding direction, anchor for settling down, stars for dreaming and everything else), I'm from the Ocean State, and I'd rather be at the beach than just about anywhere else.

I am of the same mind as the other anonymous commenter. This affinity for nautical objects seems to have come out of no where.

And even if it had, who says you have to have been dead set on getting a specific symbol or set of symbols since forever? People get bizarre things tattooed to them on whims all the time. I've wanted these since September.

On the one hand, in a void, that's true. But on the other, it's not applicable to this situation - I am in love with it, and can't imagine not being so. Even in the worst case scenario, it could be covered with a bracelet, cover-up (they make it specifically for tattoos), or a long sleeved shirt.
