Online Classes

May 16, 2006 16:35

Hi all,

I'm thinking about finishing my master's degree. However, since I have Sophie, traditional classes will be hard to get to. Have any of you had experience with or heard about someone who has had experience with online schools such as u of phoenix or capella?

thanks!

I meant to ask when we were talking, what's your degree in?

Hi Anne, how are you?

My bachelor's is in international studies, but I want to finish my masters degree in non-profit/public administration to hopefully either start a non-profit or help manage one. I want to help people and do good, I just can't be a nurse for reasons we talked about. : )

Pretty good, thanks. :) This week just seems to be flying by!

I think your goals are really wonderful. :) Feeling like what I was doing wasn't of benefit to anyone but the already rich (in a former job) really left me feeling quite unhappy. So I can understand wanting to help other people- I think it's great that you're considering going back for your Masters.

I started MBA classes at Phoenix. It was expensive, and I didn't have loans...otherwise, I'd still be there. Phoenix is accredited. The classes were a mix of easy and hard. If you're good at learning on your own, outside of a traditional classroom setting, I'd say go for it!

One of my aunts got her master's from Baker College. It's not strictly online, but she was able to do most of the degree from New Mexico. Sometimes she had to fly in for a session (by this I mean once a semester). I know she's working on a PhD from an online school (sorry can't remember the name). She had to spend a few weeks in Florida for practical training.

Good for you! Yeah, I'm thinking that it would be easier online than driving and also having to find childcare.
