I just can't get along with them for the life of me. Its never in an evironment of friends either. I don't have any black friends. It hasn't worked out well for me. I think that's in a lot of places, ya know? I get funny looks (I live in a very poor neighborhood) because I don't wear Baby Phat (etc.) or because I don't respond to "Ayo" when walking down the street.

Heh yeah "ayo" never gets a response from me. nor does "hey lil mama" or "hey sista" or "lemme holla at you. ay! ay!". How little must you think of yourself if you do respond to that crap? *sigh* its all very sad. Oh and Baby Phat is really ugly imo.

well thats nice to know. ive often wondered if i met another black chick like me if we'd get along. I really hope my kids dont have to go through the same thing. It was really lame feeling bad for speaking properly. I'm ashamed to admit that I did feel bad about it in elementary school.

The online environment is the closest I've gotten to having black friends. Yay for the interweb. It annoys me when people say I'm not really black. I feel like Carlton in that very special episode of Fresh Price of Belair.

I read this entry the other day and then later watched an episode of Last Comic Standing that I had recorded and it made me think of you. One of the comics said something very similar in her act, about not talking "black" because she had good grammar. Wish I could remember the joke... Must've been funny, because she made it to the next round =P
